When my Klic-n-kut first arrived I was very excited to use it, the main thing I wanted to do was to cut chipboard, I know you are very excited to see what this machine can do, but I would strongly suggest that you read the owners manual first before jumping into cutting, as suggested in the manual, use the pen tool for the first day or so to get familiar with the operation and orientation of the program.
This machine has quite a learning curve, if you are not familiar with computer graphics programs or find that your computer skills are not the best you may have a more difficult time understanding how to use this machine. , I had learned alot with my previous cutter machine the Craft Robo (which I loved also!) and using programs like Paint shop pro, and Adobe Photoshop, So I have a few years of learning behind me.
Not to discourage you from buying it because it is a great machine with a whole lot of creative options. You can do the basics of typing fonts and cutting them without any major knowledge, but when you get into creating your own designs you begin learning all the other things the software can do and this takes time, patience, and practice.
The first thing I would like to point out is that the KNK cuts very easily thru Bazzill cardstock, thin chipboard, fun foam, and vinyl (these are a few of the things that I have succesfully cut myself) .
It can turn any font, image, scanned image line drawing into a KNK file for cutting.
Convert certain files into KNK files (gsd, svg, wpc, pdf, all these files can be converted to KNK)
You can trace images to make a KNK file.
You can weld fonts or images with one step from the toolbar.
Cutting is limited to a 9 inch width.
It cuts with dashed lines. (I have used this to make a tear bear KNK file)
These are a just a few of the options that I have worked with so far. I love this machine, I have learned alot already, but there is still so much more to experiment with.
Check out the other pages here on my blog and experiment with some of the free files I offer. I have also made some free tutorials.
